The Lerato Foundation Life Program empowers communities and schools to live healthier, resilient, and sustainable lives. Our focus is on nutrition, clean water, health education, life skills, and sustainable practices, ensuring children, youth, and families thrive both at home and in school.
Program Mission

Program Components
A Meal A Day (Uji Program)
- Meals served three times a week (Tue, Thu, Sun)
- Prepared with locally sourced, fortified ingredients
- Delivered with care, dignity, and inclusivity
- Integrated with nutrition education sessions
Impact: Enhances cognitive development, reduces malnutrition, promotes healthy eating, strengthens school-community ties.
Water is Life – Borehole Projects & Clean Water Access
- 13 boreholes installed in communities with pipelines to schools
- Community water assessments and feasibility studies
- Community consultation and engagement
Impact: Reduces waterborne illnesses, improves school attendance, saves time fetching water, supports school nutrition programs.
Health, Nutrition & Life Skills Education
- Balanced diets, meal planning, and healthy living
- Physical and mental health awareness, hygiene, and sanitation
- Life skills: leadership, teamwork, goal setting, personal development
Sustainability & Community-Led Practices
- Manage boreholes, Uji Program, and hygiene practices
- Promote water conservation, nutrition awareness, and healthy living
