It is with profound sadness that Lerato Foundation announces the untimely passing of Hussein Abuu (17), a player from our flagship sports programme, Darajani Sports Academy, following a tragic road accident in Isiolo.
Earlier this week, Abuu had travelled home to assist his younger sister in preparing to return to school. While in Isiolo, he was involved in a tragic accident while riding on a boda boda with a friend.
Abuu was also a beneficiary of our scholarship programme and successfully completed his Form Four studies last year, attaining a strong B+ grade. He joined the academy at the age of 14 and developed into an exceptional midfielder known for his discipline, resilience, and passion for football. During his time at the academy, he recorded 67 #goals and 108 #assists, and played a key role in helping the team secure multiple tournament victories.
Abuu and his younger sister were raised under the care of Simon Kyenze P., following the loss of their parents at an early age.
A young man full of promise, Hussein inspired teammates, coaches, and the wider community through his dedication both on and off the pitch.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his sister, teammates, coaches, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
